OUR SERVICES

The Vent training methodology is designed to build the most broad, general, inclusive fitness possible. Our program is comprised of Olympic style weightlifting, power lifting, kettlebells and basic gymnastics movements - we don’t do machines, and we don’t do gimmicks.

We focus our attention on being extraordinarily effective at coaching our athletes to become intelligent movers, in order to realize their physical potential and achieve personal success as quickly and safely as possible. To ensure all of our athletes are provided every opportunity to succeed, we require getting started at The Vent in one of four ways: Intro Classes, Private Coaching, All Levels Classes or by Testing Out.

Individual/Private Coaching

Private Coaching is a remarkably effective and efficient way to accomplish your movement and fitness goals. Your coach will work with you to identify and clarify your  goals, assess your movement ability, and design a program specifically targeted at improving your deficiencies, maximizing your strengths, and translating that into your purpose. Private coaching is recommended if you typically live a sedentary lifestyle, have an injury that you can’t figure out how to deal with, are training for a specific sport or event, or just prefer the additional attention and accountability.

General Physical Preparedness (CrossFit):

At the heart of our Vent Programming are our General Physical Preparedness (CrossFit) classes. Why? Simply put, it is too damn effective to ignore. We utilize universal and transferable  movements (often found in nature). Think push, pull, squat, lift, run, throw, as opposed to biceps curls and calve raises. Our program is light, it’s heavy, long, short, and there are intervals. The true beauty of a GPP style workout is that they are all inherently and completely scalable. Meaning, the most novice student, world-class athlete and your grandma, can all complete the same workout with just a few simple modifications to the load, volume and intensity. In an effort to make our program sustainable, our coaches see to it you train only as much as you are able to recover from. After all, this isn’t just about lasting fitness, but a sustainable lifestyle.

Movement and Mobility:

Improve performance, enhance your recovery and prevent injury, by learning to move and maintain your body like you care. A priority class for all levels, this class is dedicated to teaching Dr. Kelly Starrett’s revolutionary human performance model that uniquely combines a movement-first approach and an athlete centric bias, to achieve superior athletic and functional outcomes. Our athletes recover more quickly, resolve old injuries, enjoy greater fitness, and are empowered to manage and avoid future orthopedic injury and dysfunction.

Specialty Classes:

Our core program is our General Physical Preparedness (GPP)  class and we recommend these classes for everyone, to develop and increase base fitness capacities and well-rounded abilities. We also recognize that many athletes have significant holes in strength and general fitness. To this end, we will offer a wide variety of specialized classes that are intended to be a compliment to our GPP classes.

These classes will include, but are not limited to: CrossFit Skills, Gymnastics basics, Powerlifting, Olympic Lifting Club, Vent Endurance, Hero/Girls WOD Hour, (Ido Portal inspired) Movement Sessions.

*These classes do not run year-round. Please keep up with our social media (@theventhpc FB/IG) or give us a call, for the latest updates!

Open Gym

Open Gym (or, OG)  is an opportunity for our members to perform some independent programming, the WOD (workout of the day), accessory work etc. while a coach monitors their training, in an environment that doesn't interfere with normal group classes. This time is, by design, a more “hands-off” experience for the athlete, compared to the classes. Attendees are expected to have a solid grasp on their training goals and only need basic refinements on the movements they’re working on.
